Getting on the property ladder for the first time can be daunting and difficult, climbing the property ladder may seem some way off, however, there are properties out there that require renovation works to make them habitable. The purchase of a property that requires work combined with the services of an experienced and reputable building team could be your solution with the finished product giving you the home you want and the possibility of added value to boot!
Please see our featured project and testimonial entitled Refurbishment and restoration of a Victorian terraced cottage as this was a renovation project undertaken for first time buyers.
If as part of renovation works you plan to make internal structural changes such as the removal or addition of a wall you should not need to apply for planning permission. If however you live in a listed building, you will need listed building consent for any significant works whether internal or external.
If you wish to build a new internal wall, remove an internal wall, or form an opening in an internal wall, building regulations will normally apply. The two kinds of internal walls are, load bearing and non-load bearing and would demand different treatment.
See our pages on garage conversions and extensions if you are considering either of these in addition to renovation works as these provide details for planning permission and building regulations.
Once you know you are considering a renovation project please call us and arrange a home visit. Jason will come and meet with you and discuss what you hope to achieve. During this process he will explain how Creating Better Homes can help to transform your home. On occasion he will use his 20 plus years of experience and knowledge to make suggestions in order to help optimise the available space whilst still achieving what you need from your home.
Renovations can also mean making smaller but desirable improvements to your existing home, something we can also help with, please just ask.
The advantage of using our team of expert builders is that you can be assured the project will be completed to both our and your exacting standards – just see our customer testimonials/ for independent assurance. We work closely with the local building inspector where required to ensure any works are signed off upon completion. We always use Gas Safe registered engineers where required and ‘Part P / NIC EIC’ registered electricians for all of our domestic work.
If you want further assurance, please look at pictures of our projects both on Facebook and on the site.
